Cartilage, types of cartilage

Cartilage is a enormously flexible fibrous type of connective tissue found within the body that covers and protects the ends of long bones at the joints. Cartilage is not as hard and rigid as bone, it’s softer and much more flexible and elastic than bone, but it is much stiffer and much less flexible than muscle.

There are three types of cartilage:

  1. Elastic cartilage

  2. Fibrocartilage

  3. Hyaline cartilage
